Dear Lovelies,
I must confess yesterday wasn't one of my better days!
Started out great with an amazing client session, talked about how people pleasing and doubting herself wasn't serving my client anymore.
It was time for her to set boundaries, take care of herself and not feel guilty for wanting more.
Then the bottom fell out of my day with just one phone call...
A Cruise Vacation I had planned for July was cancelled because of the COVID-19 virus. It would be my first cruise and I was super excited and looking so forward to it. Lots of sun, food, and sights to experience and memories to be made.
After I hung up the phone I felt oodles of uncertainties. Many questions, concerns, and lots of anxiety about what this world is on the verge of
.
At the time I thought the only thing I could do was worry and feel the uneasiness in my gut and continue to watch the bad news reported over and over again on the national news.
Then it occurred to me that all this chaos going on is just a circumstance. No one is making me watch the news full of bad news, cancellations, a reeling stock market. These are the thoughts of reporters on CNN, NBC & FOX just to name a few.
How we react to people, places and things is My/Our Choice.
So I coached myself through this moment of confusion.I asked myself what can I do to change my thought pattern? The mind chatter? How can I create clarity and balance?
I practiced breathing deeply, told myself there are a lot of positive affirmations out there I can practice instead of focusing on the negative.
I turned off the TV that was dishing out the bed news over and over again.
I sat in silence and wrote in my gratitude journal about everything I have to be happy and positive about. I even had the pleasure of having a conversation with a friend on the front porch.
Life can often feel uncertain if we let it. I knew I needed to change my thought pattern and move in a new direction.
Whether it's a time of waiting, an unexpected change, or a new season of life, times of unknown will happen throughout our lives.
But, it's how we handle the circumstances in our lives that will help us to thrive instead of just survive in these times.
In these uncertain times we can be drawn out of our comfort zones and tested on our thinking about how taking action can take us out of our fears.
In the work I do with my coaching clients I help them see how their brains work and show them how to shift into more positive and productive thinking. This always leads to them getting what they want.
Thank you for letting me be vulnerable and share one of my setbacks and how I dealt with it.
How are you handling the events that are taking place with COVID-19?
Leave a comment below and tell me about it!
I hope you found value and are able to put into action some of the tips above.
Big Love,
XOXO,
SUSAN
